NAME:George Pantazelos
BIOGRAPGHY- George Pantazelos is in his fourth season as Wentworth Institute of Technology’s rifle coach. Coach Pantazelos grew up shooting Skeet, sporting clays, and upland hunting with his dad creating an appreciation of the shooting sports. In 2007 he joined the team with little coaching experience. Before his presence on the team, Wentworth had struggled to field a squad, but soon had a mixed smallbore team, mixed air rifle team, and women’s air rifle team.
In 2009 he led the team to a 2nd place finish in the expert class of air rifle and the very next year they placed first in the same category. In the 2008-09 season he coached two shooters to break both the school’s smallbore and air rifle records, both by more than 20 points. During the 2009 season, Coach Pantazelos broadened his knowledge of the shooting sports becoming a USA Shooting Level 3 Rifle Coach and in 2010 he was named the Mid-Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year, a very big honor for a coach with only three years of experience.
Not only is George an accomplished coach, but he is also an accomplished shooter. Progressing quickly, within his first year of shooting competitive high power he classified as Master. His first time competing at the Nationals at Camp Perry he qualified as an Expert in both Smallbore Three-Position and Prone.
Coach Pantazelos is married to his wife Carrie and they have two children Maia (4) and Peter (2).
