BIOGRAPGHY

 

“Gunner” Barber, who was an assistant coach with the team for the past season, begins his first season as head coach. He is new to the sport but not new to small arms instruction or competition. Gunner is the Chief of the Academy weapon section overseeing five competitive teams and the service weapon qualifications of the staff and cadets. He has been a certified Coast Guard small arms instructor for over 17 years and also holds certifications from the Federal Law enforcement Training Center, SigArms, IDPA and several NRA instructor disciplines. Barber is a long time competitor with several recent state, regional and national awards shooting action pistol events. His prior tours of duty include, Instructor and weapons officer in the Use of Force branch Maritime Law Enforcement Academy, Charleston, SC. Sector Jacksonville, FL, Atlantic Area MLE training team, CGC Durable, CGC Wrangell, CGC Decisive, CGC Farallon and the small arms repair facility, NSWC-Crane, IN.
