BIOGRAPGHY

 

"Melissa Mulloy-Mecozzi, a former collegiate All-American and participant in the 2000 Olympic Games, was named the head coach of the MIT rifle team in July 2011. She succeeds her father, Jerry, who was at the helm for the Engineers from 2001 through 2011.

Mulloy-Mecozzi brings a wealth of shooting experience and accolades with her as she prepares to enter her first season with the Cardinal and Gray. A graduate of the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, Mulloy-Mecozzi was a member of three national championship teams while earning seven NCAA All-America honors. As a junior at Alaska-Fairbanks she was the recipient of the NCAA Woman of the Year Award for the state of Alaska.

A world-class competitor, Mulloy-Mecozzi has participated in the U.S. and World Championships, the Pan Am Games, while also representing the United States in the 2000 Olympics. She captured the women's air rifle title at the 2000 USA Shooting Championships and finished eighth in the three-position rifle at that year's Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. She also earned a Silver medal at the 2003 Pan Am Games.

Mulloy-Mecozzi earned a degree in business administration from Alaska-Fairbanks and a Master's in the same discipline from Troy University. Throughout the years, she has coached at camps and clinics across the country, sharing her expertise with shooters of all ages and skill-levels."
